Which internet providers in Minneapolis are the cheapest?

Xtream Powered by Mediacom offers the cheapest internet plan in the area, offering speeds up to 100 Mbps for $19.99 per month. That’s a steal, and the price increases by just $10 after the promotional period. Xfinity’s 200 Mbps cable internet plan is your next best bet for $40.00 per month, although you must pay $30.00 more each month if you want unlimited data.

Gigabit plans are relatively cheap across the board, ranging from $65.00 to $70.00 per month, excluding Mediacom’s plan (it increases to $129.99 after the first 12 months). Xfinity’s 1,200 Mbps plan costs $80.00 per month, which isn’t bad until you factor in the extra $30 for unlimited data if you need it.

Minneapolis residential internet coverage

CenturyLink is a DSL and fiber internet provider in Minneapolis. It has the largest coverage in the entire Minneapolis metro area, the surrounding suburbs, and other outlying areas. Its fastest fiber plan reaches up to 940 Mbps and its DSL internet service tops out at 140 Mbps.

Xfinity is a cable internet provider. It’s close behind in terms of coverage, but it falls short in the far eastern and western parts of the metro area. The coverage is not quite as widespread as CenturyLink, but all the major neighborhoods should get service. Its fastest cable internet speed is 1,200 Mbps.

Xtream Powered by Mediacom is another cable internet provider with a smaller presence in Minneapolis—mostly on the southwest side of the city. The speeds are also slower than Xfinity or CenturyLink. It’s a solid choice if you want to go with a smaller cable provider.

Viasat and HughesNet satellite services are available in areas that don’t have landline access or for those who aren’t happy with the landline options. Satellite internet is slower and more expensive, however.

Century Link is overpriced...and the speed is so slow that I cant even watch television without it buffering constantly. I have called customer support several times and get transferred all over. I have one t.v. and one phone. Nothing else that runs off internet so no reason for slowing.
